3 Things Your Website’s Home Page is Missing

Let’s talk websites. In our digital culture, building a solid website for your business is essential for recognition, growth, and success. There is a lot of debate out there about which page of your website is the most important, but in my opinion, it’s definitely your home page. It’s the first thing your potential clients see when they land on your page. Your home page should feel like sigh of relief. An end to an endless search. Your potential customers should say, “Finally! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!” when they land on your home page. In order to achieve this response, your website copy needs to check a few boxes. So, here are 3 things to include on your websites home page to ensure that browsers become customers:

Problem and Solution

Put yourself in your customers’ shoes. What are their pain points? It’s your job to show your potential customers that you completely understand the problem they’re facing. Empathize with them and make them feel heard. Once you’ve done that, offer them a specific solution to their problem that they can’t say no to. This is where the sigh of relief comes in. You want your potential clients to feel like they’ve finally found what they’re looking for. They’ve finally found someone that gets them. This will encourage your readers/potential customers to explore your website further rather than moving on.

Why you?

Sure, sometimes you’ll get lucky and you’ll be the first website a customer visits, but in most cases, a customer will come across your website after looking at 50 others. So, what sets you apart from the masses? After offering your solution, tell your potential customers why they should choose you over another business in your industry. What makes you different? What do you have to offer those other businesses don’t? This can be where you tell them about what it’s like to work with you, or what to expect when they walk through your door. Tap into their emotions and paint a picture of what their experience will be like. When it comes to providing a product or service, it’s all about the experience you’re creating for your customers.

CTA (Call to Action)

This is an important one. Because what good is all of that work if there isn’t a next step? Be sure to include a CLEAR call to action on your home page. What do you want browsers to do next? Sign up for an email list? Contact you? Explore your portfolio? Let them know! Tell them with very clear language how they can get in touch with you or learn more information. Make this step as easy as possible. They should be able to get in touch with you (or sign up for your email list) with one simple click.
